Book: "NEW ARTISANS: PORTRAIT OF A GENERATION THAT SHAKES UP TRADITIONAL CODES". They are glass blowers, sign painters, potters, mechanics, brewers, and even plumbers. They are sometimes called neo-artisans. Young graduates leave a "dead-end job" to create their own business, while experienced professionals have a moment of realization during a career change. They all express their love of a job well done, their satisfaction in spending time perfecting each piece, and their fulfillment in living, even less comfortably, from a meaningful activity that is closer to the products, customers, nature, and traditions. Magali Perruchini met them and takes us inside the workshops of these new artisans, who combine traditional craftsmanship with today's creativity. This 256-page monograph (paperback) was published on March 15, 2018. The book features a preface by Jean-Laurent Cassely and a postscript by Pierre-Yves Gomez, and is supported by Les Compagnons du Devoir and the Ateliers de Paris.

The designer
Strong in her ambitions, creative and patient, the aesthete Alix D. Reynis became a model maker, a latent passion for a craft to which she had previously been introduced. This professional change came after the birth of her fourth child, like a realisation for the self-taught law student. Alix devoted herself to sculpture for five years and returned to the notary's office. Meanwhile, by chance, she found a job as a construction manager. The creator then oscillates between two careers, one of the heart and the other of the mind.
In 2011, she took the plunge and created her eponymous brand. A way of shaking up the professional landscape she had been given and embracing a career that made sense, the legitimate joy of working with her hands.
